Laumeier Sculpture Park

Laumeier Sculpture Park Laumeier Sculpture Park is a favorite quick getaway. Located just outside the city, there’s more to this little spot than just massive pieces of artwork. Within the wooded portion of the park exists a couple of different sets of trails. The primary is part asphalt and part dirt. Beyond this however, there are little, hidden, and completely untouched trails. It’s almost like the park’s greatest secret! I’ve spent many, many hours in those back trails as they’ve often served as something of a workout spot for me. It’s really a fantastic space to get back into the swing of hiking rough, rugged trails.

Queeny Park

Queeny Park Queeny Park is just one of the many St Louis County parks. This was a first time visit for me, and was actually pretty disappointed with the very small size of it. It was much more heavily populated than I’d hoped for, even this late in November. It is obviously a place for the locales to walk their dogs and go on their morning runs. However, while it wasn’t my personal cup o’tea, there were some beautiful features that I attempted to capture.

St Francois 05

St Francois The second photography-driven trip to St Francois. Most of the shots are digital, others are 35mm. This park is just breathtaking any time of year. Have I mentioned how much I love this place?

Grant’s Farm

Grants Farm While Grant’s Farm isn’t a state park, many of the features of this local family getaway are certainly worth a picture or two. The space is a little bit farm, a little bit zoo as it is home to more than 1,000 animals representing more than 100 different species from six continents. The Farm takes its name from our 18th President of the United States, Ulysses S. Grant. In the 1850s, Grant founded and farmed a portion of the 281 acres. Today, this land is home to Grant’s Farm and is preserved as a living symbol of the Busch family’s love for animals and Anheuser-Busch’s commitment to wildlife conservation and preservation.
